Live music and theater have been a part of my life from an early age, starting with French horn and ballet lessons as a young child. As a parent, I still remember the thrill of going to my son’s first band concert in the newly opened Center for the Arts (CFA) after years of attending performances in school cafeterias. After serving as president of the Castro Valley Music Parents’ Society, it seemed a natural transition to join the Castro Valley Arts Foundation board when my youngest son went off to college. One of the things I value most about the CVAF is the way it brings together the surrounding community for shared experiences, a vital function of the arts.
