This lively
evening will be held on
Friday, February 29th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
at Redwood Chapel,
19300 Redwood Road, Castro Valley.
This event
benefits the Castro Valley Center for the Arts, Castro Valley’s new
516-seat theater which hosts school theatre productions, concerts,
community art shows and other events.
Alice Lynn, a
Castro Valley High School alumni,
is a veteran performer and has
appeared in western regional theatre companies such as: ACT in San
Francisco, Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts in Santa
Maria, Denver Center Theatre Company, and Oakland’s Woodminster. Her
favorite roles include Marian in Music Man, Magnolia in
Showboat, and Irene in Crazy for You. Alice also traveled
with the Broadway touring company of Cats, playing the roles of
Jellylorum and Griddlebone. In the Broadway Tour of Sunset
Boulevard, she had the privilege of understudying Petula Clark in
the lead role of Norma Desmond. Her highly acclaimed cabaret show has
been featured at many venues, including the Plush Room in San
Francisco and Don’t Tell Mama in NYC.
In her giddy
youth, Alice performed for four seasons with Ringling
Brothers-Barnum & Bailey, where she was featured as the
first female singer ever heard in The Greatest Show on Earth.
Alice has enjoyed a varied
and creative career in show business. In addition to her performing
arts career she has worked as teacher, writer, composer, director,
choreographer, audio and video producer and photographer. Her
portrait photography has been featured in two solo shows in New York
City galleries. Each winter, she returns to the Alaskan Arctic to act
as the artist-in-residence for the Alaskan Arts Council.
Guest emcee,
Michael Morgan¸
is no stranger to Castro Valley. A champion for arts education,
Maestro Morgan makes about 100 appearances in the nation’s schools
each year. He has worked with the Castro Valley High School students
as guest conductor and emcee. We are pleased to have him back again
this year.
